Dr Perry is on staff in the Ophthalmology Department at Scottsdale Healthcare both Shea and Thompson Peak Hospital Campuses. He has served on staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, Arizona Heart Hospital and the Maricopa County Medical Center where he taught ophthalmology residents from both Mayo and Wills Hospital residency programs.
He is a diplomat of the Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (where he served on the board of trustees). He is also a provider and former medical director of the Wellcare Foundation in Phoenix.
Dr. Perry did his undergraduate work in Biology at the University of Richmond (Va.), where he received numerous academic scholarships and honors. He attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, again winning honors for his medical skills, receiving his medical degree in 1996. His Ophthalmology training was at the St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, where he completed his training in 2000 as the Chief Ophthalmology Resident. After working as a surgeon and clinician for two surgical facilities in the Valley, he decided to start his own practice and established Grayhawk Eye Center in 2002 to provide state of the art eye care and surgery.
Dr. Perry has received extensive specialized training in the latest LASIK/LASEK/PRK surgery techniques and equipment. He is certified on the Alcon Wavelight(wavefront optimized), AMO/Visx S4(wavefront guided), LADARVision 4000(including wavefront) and Nidek Excimer Laser systems. He also has certifications to use the Intralase laser for flap creation as well as the Hansatome and Moria microkeratome devices.
Dr. Perry performs topical anesthesia, no stitch cataract surgery in a state of the art surgical facility with a staff specifically trained in eye care. He treats cataract surgery as a form of refractive surgery with a goal of spectacle independence and was one of the first surgeons in arizona to start implanting specialized multifocal/premium IOL’s in 2005.
Dr. Perry is certified and has received specialized training in the newest form of refractive surgery, implantable contact lenses.
